Learning Activity
The educational activity of the Department of Pedagogy is carried out in several main aspects. First of all, research and development activities in the field of pedagogy are carried out, and on this basis, the training plans and programs are prepared and periodically updated. The prepared curricula and programs are reviewed and then discussed by the members of the department. In accordance with the content and topics of the various disciplines laid out in the educational documentation, the teachers provide the learning process with textbooks and teaching aids, including web-based courses, lectures and exercises for all specialties. Questions related to the pedagogical practice of students are discussed annually at methodological seminars initiated by the department, with the participation of directors of basic kindergartens and schools, representatives of the Regional Inspectorate of Education in Ruse, heads of non-governmental organizations and social institutions. The learning process is provided with modern information and communication technologies and software products, ensuring interactivity in the learning of the educational content by the students.
Research Activity
There is a rich research activity of the academic staff of the Department of Pedagogy. The teachers participate in international scientific events and specializations, which increases their qualification. Mobility expands their opportunities to establish contacts with foreign scientists. For the last ten years, The professors have been periodically giving lectures at universities in different countries of Europe and teaching foreign students under the international mobility program "Erasmus +" for the last ten years.
The teachers from the Department of Pedagogy participate in the development of scientific research programs financed by the "Scientific Research" fund, by operational programs at the University of Ruse and by the Ministry of Education and Science through the European Social Fund of the European Union.
Professors, PhD students and students participate in the projects, which is evidence of good continuity between them. The active research activity of the department is an integral part of the overall activity of the academic staff and contributes to the research activity of the University of Ruse.
The teachers initiate and participate in a variety of forums where the scientific results of theoretical and experimental research and successful practices are presented. These events further expand and enrich their qualifications and contacts with personnel from other universities.
Teachers from the Department of Pedagogy annually take an active part in the joint conference of the University of Ruse and the Union of Scientists, organizing and leading the Pedagogy and Psychology section.
Students and doctoral students trained in the department also take an active part in research activities, participating in the annual student-doctoral research session, preceded by an educational seminar.
In 2012, the scientific journal "Pedagogic News" was launched, published by the Department of Pedagogy. Materials from the prominent educators at home and abroad have been attracted, which creates a good rating for the publication. It is published on paper and at the same time has an electronic version at: http://pedagogicnews.uni-ruse.bg/ (indexed in Google sholar).
The members of the department are authors of textbooks and study aids, monographs, studies and scientific articles.
The Department of Pedagogy, Psychology and History is responsible for the majors Elementary School Pedagogy and Foreign Language, Preschool Pedagogy and Foreign Language, Elementary School Pedagogy and Foreign Language /full-time and part-time study with qualification degrees "bachelor" and "master"/.
The department maintains relations with the basic schools and kindergartens where it takes place educational pedagogical practice, as well as with the Regional Inspectorate of Education.
The department organizes a student scientific session in the month of May every year, where joint papers are presented by students and teachers. All reports are published in a compendium.
Special evenings and meetings with employers are held annually.
The teachers of the department participate in international and national projects and scientific forums.
Magazine "Pedagogic novelties"
The magazine "Pedagogic News" is published by the Department of Pedagogy at the University of Ruse "Angel Kanchev".
The thematic scope of the journal includes the diverse problematics of pedagogical knowledge: Theory of education and didactics, Private methods, Social pedagogy, History of pedagogy, Comparative education, Special pedagogy and pedagogical psychology. The journal publishes theoretical, experimental and scientific-practical materials concerning all educational levels: preschool, primary, secondary and higher education, as well as lifelong learning.
The journal provides opportunities for sharing and popularizing the current achievements of theoretical thought and successful innovative practices in the field of pedagogy. It is addressed to researchers, teachers, doctoral students, students, parents involved in the problems of education, training and personality development.
Materials received for publication are reviewed by anonymous and independent reviewers, experts in the relevant field. At all stages of the preparation and publication of the magazine, a policy of strict adherence to the standards of ethical behavior is followed.
