The Department of " Еlectricity Supply and Electrical Equipment" was established in December 1973 on the basis of the previously existing Department of "Electrification of Agriculture" by order of the Rector of the University of Ruse "Angel Kanchev" N361 of 29th December, 1973, in accordance with order N 2613 of 01st October, 1973 of the Committee for Science, Technical Progress and Higher Education.
Heads of the Department were :
• Associate Professor Spas Mitev Nanev, Ph.D. Eng.: 10th December,1973 – 22nd November, 1992;
• Associate Professor, Dr. Eng. Dimo Neykov Dimov: 23rd November, 1992. – 24th May, 1998;
• Prof. Dr. Eng. Ivan Yordanov Palov: 25th May, 1998. – 28th January, 2004;
• Prof. Ph.D. Engineer Kondyu Yordanov Andonov: 29th January, 2004 - 2012;
• Associate Professor Ludmil Dosev Mihailov, Ph.D. Eng.: 01.2012 - 04.2022
• Assoc. Dr. Eng. Orlin Lyubomirov Petrov: 04.2022 - until now.
At first, 6 professors started working in the department, of which only two are candidates of technical sciences (doctors).
Now 10 teachers work in the department, including: 1 – Professor, Doctor of Engineering; 6 – Associate Professors, Doctor of Engineers.
With the decision of the National Assessment and Accreditation Agency (NAAA) dated 21st December, 2022, the department is accredited to train students for the educational qualification degree Bachelor and Master in the specialty "Electricity and Electrical Equipment".
