The Faculty of Law of the University of Ruse "Angel Kanchev" was established in 1992. Over the years of its existence, it won its place among the best law faculties in Bulgaria. This prestige is related not only to the popularity of the legal profession, but also to the wide range of opportunities provided by the faculty in the field of law.
From the first day of our work, we directed our attention to the quality of education and the formation of teaching staff, to effective interaction with judicial and law enforcement authorities. The results were not long in coming. The faculty successfully received state accreditation for training students in the "Law" specialty.
In 2016, new specialties were opened in the Faculty of Law in professional direction 9.1 National security - "Combating Crime and Protection of Public Order" for the Bachelor's Degree program "Legal Regime Protection of National Security" and "Strategic Management and Leadership in the Field of National Security" - for the "Master's" degree.
The faculty is structured in four departments. In accordance with European practice, the three law departments are separated according to the main areas of legal knowledge - Public Law sciences, Private Law sciences and Criminal Law Sciences. The fourth department "Security" is responsible for training in PN 9.1 National Security. The study disciplines for the specialty "Law" are distributed in the three law departments, which provide the complete training in the specialty "Law" for obtaining the qualification "Lawyer".
The Faculty of Law of the University of Ruse "Angel Kanchev" is a member of the European Association of Law Faculties (European Law Faculties Association). The annual participation of the faculty in the activity of ELFA is evidenced by the received certificates.
