The Department of "Technical Mechanics" belongs to the first departments of the University of Ruse.
Its first supervisor was Assoc. Dr. Borislav Bankov, professor of Resistance of Materials. Among the first members of the department are senior lecturer Yuriy Ivanov Stoychev and assistant Petar Denev Partinov. Later, the Department was headed by the distinguished scientist in the field of Construction Mechanics and Theory of Elasticity, Prof. Marko Markov Todorov, later the long-term Rector of the University, who contributed immensely to the personnel growth and strengthening of the "Technical Mechanics" department.
