The department was established by a decision of the Academic Council of the University of Ruse "Angel Kanchev", adopted at a meeting on 09th October, 2012. Based on the decision, in the structure of the Faculty of Agriculture and Industry, the Department of "Heating, Hydro- and Pneumatic Engineering" unites with the "Ecology and Environmental Protection" department.
The goal set by the establishment of the Department of "Heat Engineering, Hydraulics and Ecology" is to integrate the competencies and achievements of the academic staff in educational and scientific activities in three main areas:
Direction of Hydraulics
The department and the laboratory of the same name were established in 1955. The hydraulics laboratory was the first in the newly formed in 1954 Higher school - Institute of Mechanization and Electrification of Agriculture. The foundations of the laboratory were laid by Associate Professor Petar Zlatarev. Consecutive heads of the department are Professor Gancho Guzhkulov Eng., Associate professor Dr. Eng. Petar Rusev and Associate Professor Dr. Eng. Gencho Popov, as well as heads of the "Heating, hydro- and pneumatic engineering" department during different periods. The department "Hydraulics" is housed in building 9, which was opened in 1974.
Direction of Heat Engineering
The department was established in 1954. The first teacher was Professor Karl Slavomirov. The educational process developed intensively after 1962, when Dr. Eng. Dimitar Velev, who then became a professor and head of the "Heating, Hydro- and Pneumatic Engineering" department, entered. From the beginning of 1963, he was assisted by Eng. Ivan Kozhuharov, who in the following years was an Associate professor and Head of the Department. The classrooms and laboratories in thermal engineering are located in building 4 of the autonomous steam plant built in the period 1955-1958. This hull is still in use today. In addition to Professor Dimitar Velev, Ph.D., and Ivan Kojuharov, Ph.D., Associate Professor, Yasen Dochev, Ph.D., and Valentin Bobilov, Ph.D.
Department "Ecology and environmental protection"
The Department is the successor of the Department "Organization and Protection of the Population and the National Economy", established in 1973. In 1989, it was renamed to the Department "Engineering Protection of Labor and the Environment", and from 1996 - to "Ecology and Conservation" of the environment". Successively, its supervisors were Associate Professor Mincho Tsochev, Associate Professor Todor Stanchovski, Associate Professor Ivan Ivanov. From 1987 to 2011, the Head of the Department was Professor D.Sc. Vladimir Tomov Vladimirov. The head of the department is now an Associate professor, Ik. Lubomir Vladimirov Vladimirov.
